Caoilfhionn van der Walt, MA, MSc, CA (ICAEW), H Dip (International Tax)

Caoilfhionn is from Ireland but has lived in South Africa since 2006.  She has 18 years of international tax experience, starting at Arthur Andersen, London, and thereafter at Deloitte.  She was the head of international tax at Sasol for nine years until 2016, and has been a part-time lecturer in international tax at the University of Johannesburg since 2009.  Caoilfhionn is an experienced mentor and coach, focusing on the development of technical skills and personal mastery for young professionals. 

Carine van den Berg, B Com (Hons), CA (SA), H Dip (International Tax)

Carine is a senior executive with more than 20 years' experience in financial management, business development, business- and financial strategy development, corporate finance and the implementation of multi-billion dollar international capital projects, acquisitions, disposals and joint ventures.  After completing her training as accountant at KPMG in 1995, Carine joined Sasol where she was appointed in various technical and senior leadership roles until 2016.  These roles included head of group corporate finance and group financial reporting, the establishment of Sasol’s new business development function and the development and establishment of an integrated business for the company’s multi-billion dollar ethane cracker and derivatives complex near Lake Charles, Louisiana. 



Amanda Warner, BA,LLB, B Com(Hons) (Tax)

Amanda has a legal background and has 20 years international tax experience. She started her tax consulting career at Deloitte and then spent 13 years at EY, where she was an international tax partner, focusing on general international tax consulting and cross border acquisitions and mergers.  In 2010, she moved to the Large Business Centre at SARS, as the senior specialist in the International Tax division, where she was responsible for all technical assessments and training and upskilling of staff.  Amanda brings the expertise of top end consulting advisory along with a knowledge and understanding of SARS audits and controversy management, training and mentoring of junior staff.

Barendine (Bari) Duvenhage, B Com (Law), H Dip (Tax)

Bari is an expatriate and personal tax specialist with twenty years experience in tax, compensation and benefits, mobility management, payroll and incentive design. She started her career with Arthur Andersen in 1999, moved to PwC and later KPMG where she was made associate director in 2007. In 2008 she moved to SABMiller as their global expatriate tax manager. During her time at SABMiller she was involved with expatriate package design and annual compensation reviews. Bari has done numerous employee’s tax audits in Africa and has extensive experience in taxation of cross-border share gains.

Hasinah Essop, MCom (Tax), BCom(Hons)(Tax)

Hasinah has 10 years experience in tax and audit. She started as an academic trainee at the University of the Witwatersrand and thereafter completed her SAICA articles in audit at PwC. She moved to the international tax department of PwC after qualifying as a CA(SA). She was later contracted with the United Nations UNCTAD division on a short-term basis to assist with a project on cross-border tax avoidance. She then spent approximately 2 years in academia in the Tax department at the University of the Witwatersrand and at Milpark Business School. She is currently involved in both academia and tax consulting, with a focus on international tax.


Charissa de Jager B Proc, LLB

Charissa is an admitted attorney and qualified company secretary.  She has 15 years’ experience working in company secretary and legal governance roles across multiple industries, including at large multinational and JSE and NYSE listed groups. During her career Charissa spent five years at Sasol in company secretarial and governance roles.  Charissa is very experienced in training and mentoring junior staff, and is passionate about developing professionals to improve their personal and technical attributes to improve their career opportunities.

Elsabe Liebenberg

Elsabe has almost thirty years of project administration and company secretarial experience at listed and privately held groups. Elsabe is highly experienced with all aspects of company secretarial work, as well as project management and supporting large project teams.


Melanie Launspach, B Com (Hons), CA(SA)

Melanie, a chartered accountant, spent fifteen years at Sasol where she was involved with financial management, corporate finance and dealing with Exchange Control issues. Since joining Regan van Rooyt, Melanie focuses on B-BBEE implementation and compliance, as well as SA Reserve Bank issues.

Ingrid Friend LLM, CIS

Ingrid is a qualified Attorney and Chartered Secretary, having obtained her LLB in 2007, her LLM in 2013 and her CIS in 2015. She has extensive experience in company law, corporate law, commercial law, property law and intellectual property law. Ingrid is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries Southern Africa (CSSA). Ingrid is also an expert in B-BBEE planning and in SA Reserve Bank issues.


Yvonne Webb

Yvonne is a highly experienced Human Resources manager, with over 30 years’ HR experience at large groups, particularly at Sasol, where she worked in SA and internationally.    During her time at Sasol, Yvonne worked across many disciplines including Organisational Effectiveness, Remuneration, International Mobility, Sourcing and Talent Management in the business unit as well as head office / corporate environments.  During this time, she also served as the HR lead on numerous large scale corporate initiatives, including restructuring projects.


Lucia van Rooyen, B Comm (Hons), CA (SA)   

Lucia is an experienced financial manager and corporate finance specialist. A chartered accountant, Lucia qualified at KPMG and then spent 17 years with the SA-based Sasol group, before joining Regan van Rooy. At Sasol, she spent time both as a financial manager and within the Sasol corporate finance / new business development teams. She has experience across all areas of financial management, financial reporting, strategy development, and has deep experience in running large scale projects.
